well, the planning for new york is now coming together nicely too.
hi to Al, a local new yorker who is going to show me round his town. he has grown up in manhattan and is going to show me what he loves about new york.....lots of walking i gather so i will be sure to pack the comfy shoes....(and i might just have to do some training for all this exercise i am going to be doing - any 'rapid fitness' tips anyone??????)
it also seems that i am going to be in new york on one of the regular biker 'hang' nights (i gather the equivalent of our coffee nights at milton - where ppl gather and drool over everyone else's bikes).
the news from the wima vice president is that there is a regular night on a tuesday night at a place called the Ear Inn. Or maybe the Sidewalk Cafe - she's sent me links to check out.....

i'm goin to have to get the manhattan maps out to work out where these places are in relation to where i'm staying.
and there's a chance that something might be arranged for boston / harvard too....
looks like i'll be carrying international good wishes from the qld bike community!

It was sunny and about 8C yesteday, today is -10C and we are expecting anywhere to 25cm of snow tonight. Big storm coming in but probably last of the season. Still got snow in the freezer for you Kerrie but hoping there will be a bit on the groud for your first few days anyways. Downhill skiing on rocks and dirt isn't very fun. By the by, I was out picking up the trash cans today [garbage day]and found $40 [2x$20] that had melted in the snow.
Funny you mentioned NYC, I lived there in the late 70s early 80s for 5 years when I worked for Foreign Affairs and made a crap load of friends. I just heard from one of my best friends after 24 years last week. She lives about 30 minutes out of the city. Lily and I are going to Manhattan weekend of 21 April. Talk to you soon.
Ray
P.S.We didn't hear from you for a few days and were starting to worry. The news said you had cyclone George about to hit and it is a humdinger[big ass storm].
fortunately, george was on the other side of australia. but it did do some damage and a couple of people got killed.
but i've been busy finishing some work stuff so that i can enjoy my holiday.
i'll be there real soon - get those mounties ready.....lol
